2012
So many great projects already looming for this year! 2011 was an amazing year for productions and I am looking at an even bigger and better 2012!
2011... What a year!
And so we start to wind down at the end of a very busy and productive year. Sitting quietly with my cup of tea this morning I was reflecting on the last 12 months and realised how diverse and exciting the work has been!
Zaxcom radio mics
I have just taken delivery of the latest in technology from Zaxcom USA. Miniature radio transmitter/recorders that have twice the radio range of normal kits plus the ability to wirelessly receive timecode from the camera and record timecode stamped 48kz wav files at the transmitter so you will never again lose another take even if the talent walks/gallops/drives out of radio range!
Working on the Gold Coast
Having flown home from Sydney after being away for the best part of four months, I have managed my dream of shooting on my home beach of Currumbin not once but twice!
Once Upon a Time…
6 weeks shooting in and around Cabramatta to produce 3 x 1hour documentary specials for SBS called Once Upon a Time in Cabramatta, a fascinating insight into the plight of the Vietnamese refugees who came to Australia following the fall of Saigon in 1975 and their subsequent settling into Cabramatta and all that then unfolded.
Busy times
The second half of the year is promising to be a very busy period in the industry if the last few months are anything to go by...
Port Douglas, Tropical North Queensland
Just finished an enormously enjoyable shoot up in Cairns and Port Douglas for Qantas. Great crew, relaxed and professional atmosphere, beautiful locations and fantastic food!
Links
I have had a day of trolling forums and information, which happily coincided with day 1 of NAB 2011, so I thought I would start to collect and catalogue some of the treasures of info that is out there for us tehcno-audio-nerds.
What a week!
What a week...
Well technically it was three weeks! I came down to Sydney for a weeks worth of work and it turned into three!
More microphones
I am thoroughly enjoying having a range of mics to work with for the enormous range of applications that I have found myself working in over the last few weeks. Everything from health and alcohol forums to MTV interviews, TV commercials - even meditation narrations for those who fear flying. It has given me a chance to experiment and fine tune my collection of microphones and I am thrilled with the results!
